Distilled at The Macduff Distillery in April 2000. Bottled in Glasgow September 2013. Aged 13 years old in American oak. Un-chill filtered, no artificial colouring. Bottled at 46.0% Alcohol by volume.
This is a vigorous and charming single malt. Sweet and aromatic. Some tasting notes suggest a hint of smoke. No way. Think more of the Italian liqueur Limoncello or lemon meringue pie. A great after dinner drink.
Situated near Banff, the distillery was built in 1962. Although this date is disputed by some who believe the distillery was in production in June 1960. MacDuff Distillery is located on the Eastern bank of the River Deveron, a well-known salmon river and the eastern demarcation line of Speyside Region. MacDuff is therefore classified as a Highland Malt. Since 1992 the distillery has been owned by the Bacardi Corporation and is managed by John Dewar and Sons a subsidiary of Bacardi.
