Linkwood is the distillery closest to the sea on the river Lossie, South of Elgin, was founded in 1821. When in 1936 the distillery was sold, the new manager, a Gaelic speaker from Wester Ross, insured that no-changes were made to the distillation process. Under his supervision, even spiders webs were preserved for fear that the whisky would lose some of its character if they were removed.
