Distilled at The Glen Grant Distillery in October 1997. Bottled in Glasgow May 2012. Aged 14 years old in American Oak. Un-chill filtered, natural colour. Bottled at 46% Alcohol by volume.
The House style is clean, fresh, floral and fruity. Perhaps tangerine , ripe melon with green apples. Medium bodied. A sweet sipping whisky with a complex after glow. Makes for a great aperitif.
Two brothers, James and John Grant, after years of illicit distillation, decided in 1840 to establish a legitimate distillery. Situated in the whisky town of Rothes in Speyside Region, the distillery used water from the nearby Black Burn and stills were coal fired. Glen Grant was one of the first industrial buildings in Scotland to be equipped with electric lighting. The whisky has long been an integral component of Chivas Regal, and is highly regarded by blenders. It is actually known as a first class whisky along with Glen Rothes & Macallan. It is the biggest selling malt whisky in Italy.
