Distilled at The Clynelish Distillery in May 1997. Bottled in Glasgow February 2014. Aged 16 years old in American Oak. Un-chill filtered, no artificial colouring. Bottled at cask strength of 54.7% alcohol by volume.
Mahogany in colour. The nose is salty with a hint of peat. Summer fruits, peaches and mangoes. Belies its maritime location.
The original Brora distillery was built in 1819 in the fishing and golfing resort of Brora, in Sutherland, by the Marquis of Stafford. In 1896 James Ainslie & Company acquired the distillery, and in 1925 the mighty Distillers Company took over. By now the distillery was called Clynelish and a new one was built in 1967. The original Brora Distillery , closed in the 1980’s.
